Prada's Black Lace Sends Critics A-Swoonin'!

• Cathy Horyn is in love again! She finds the black lace on Prada's coats, pants, and dresses "fascinating" in Milan. [NYT]

• Suzy Menkes likes Prada's black lace too, calling it "original" and "intensely Prada in its mix of the prim and the perverse." [IHT]

• Jess Cartner-Morley thinks the Prada collection seems conceived with the company's planned June public offering in mind. She finds it commercially avant-garde, noting the lace dresses will be sold along with plain Prada-priced slips. Miuccia Prada says the public offering had nothing to do with her designs. [Guardian]

• The platform for photographers at the Sportmax show in Milan collapsed on Tuesday. No injuries were reported, but the late start pushed back the rest of the day's schedule. [WWD]

• Agyness Deyn is being turned into a mannequin. Adel Roodstein, the British company that has made mannequins of Twiggy and Yasmin le Bon, will launch the Aggy mannequin in a Dusseldorf branch of Zara on Friday. [British Vogue]

• Pierre Hardy has designed another line of shoes for the Gap after the success of his 2007–2008 fall collection. His spring/summer 2008 collection includes nine styles for women and two for men. [British Vogue]

• Fur continues to heat up the fall collections on runways and has warmed the bodies of Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, but can it be worn guilt-free? Maybe if it's vintage. We mean, the damage's already done, right? [Daily Mail]
