On Saturday night John Galliano was scheduled to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design's graduate fashion show where he was also supposed to accept his André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award. He even told us he was excited to visit Georgia, where he had never been, and that Talley would give him a tour of Savannah. But lo! A spokeswoman told faculty on Saturday illness had befallen dear Galliano and he would not make it south to accept his award. Then poor Talley had to inform an auditorium full of eager students that Galliano was still in New York, where he showed his Christian Dior cruise collection earlier in the week. "I'm devastated that [Galliano's] not here," Talley said. "He was very proud of the award."
What could have befallen our dear John? Yesterday "Page Six" reported that the designer was spotted at Socialista with Christina Aguilera and Charlize Theron — both ladies attended the Dior cruise-collection show on May 14. So while the report doesn't say what date, exactly, Galliano was there, we might reasonably guess it was shortly within the time frame of his show, and just a day or two before he was due in Savannah. Oh, dear: Let's hope that he merely left the club leaving flu-y. Socialista's notorious hepatitis special can be devastating.
