Vintage boutique Frock, an Orchard Street staple, opened a second outpost in Park Slope last week. The store is known for its versatile collection of high-end vintage designer pieces, curated by Alexandra "Lexi" Sacchi and Evan Ross. Designers shop there all the time, and just yesterday stylist Patricia Field pulled from the new Brooklyn store for Ugly Betty, which she styles. "Each piece at Frock is carefully picked for a specific reason — there is something about it, outside of its label, that elevates it in our minds," Sacchi told us. "This is why we are a true boutique, in the sense that the pieces are carefully selected and arranged." We peeked in the store to check it out and discovered the stock at the Brooklyn store more than holds a candle to its sister Lower East Side shop. Here are some of our favorite items:
Teal Traina Minidress (sixties)
Why we like it: The retro-mod feel of this sixties white cotton minidress is simple and chic.
Judith Leiber Bag (eighties)
Why we like it: This clutch features red, gold, and black rhinestones on fabric with a gold frame closure, which shows the designer's incredible craftsmanship.
Oscar de la Renta Print Dress (seventies)
Why we like it: The print on this spaghetti-strap floral silk gown is bold and gorgeous.
Chanel Dress (seventies)
Why we like it: The pattern of speckled gold, bronze, and navy metallics is amazing on this long-sleeved red silk-chiffon dress and matching belt.
Emanuel Ungaro Polka-dot Dress (eighties)
Why we like it: This silk polka-dot dress is from the eighties but actually quite modern. —Sharon Clott
