Architect Zaha Hadid has gotten a lot of attention in fashion circles lately for the spacecraft-esque Mobile Art exhibit she designed for Chanel. That exhibit is all about handbags, but her latest project is all about shoes: Hadid is collaborating with Brazilian ecofriendly label melissa on the design of space-age-y rubber shoes (past melissa collaborators include Vivienne Westwood and Alexandre Herchcovitch). Hadid told British Vogue, “I have 30 years of research on different areas of architecture and design and this was a very challenging project, not only in design, but on the technical side.” So designing footwear is no walk in the park, even for masters of structuring things.

If you want a pair of Hadid’s new kicks, you’ll have to work for them: Come September, London’s Dover Street Market will be selling the shoes exclusively. And in eight different colors, to boot. Best to book your flight ASAP, before fares rise again — it’d be tragic if you flew all the way over there and could only shell out for one or two pairs.
