We know you're tired of the doom and gloom, and really, we don't want to keep bringing you more. Instead, we'd like to give you puppies wearing Phillip Lim. But alas, we have winter storm watch 2008 outside, a tanking economy, and one more month of Dubya. The fashion and art worlds are suffering, so much so that Chanel pulled the plug on the traveling Zaha Hadid art exhibit that we were lucky enough to host in October. But London, Paris, and Moscow? You're so out of luck.
"Considering the current economic crisis, we decided it was best to stop the project," said a Chanel spokeswoman. "We will be concentrating on strategic growth investments."
Well you can't fault them there. But oh, woe is you who didn't get to witness it. And seriously, won't anyone think of the art (and fashion)? Are we going to have to set up rival collection tins next to Santas with ringing bells to keep shows, Theyskens, Zaha Hadid, and Men's Vogue going? Oh, what will become of us?
