Haidee Findlay-Levin and Leigh Lezark Not in Agreement Over the Eighties

Stylist Haidee Findlay-Levin isn’t so smitten with this year’s shows. “I haven’t seen a ton, but I haven’t seen what I’d like to see,” she told us at last night’s Adidas SLVR Label store opening party. Given the economic climate, Levin noted that it’s a “strange time” to be bringing the ostentatious eighties back: “Everyone is either doing the eighties or trying to dress Michelle Obama,” she told us. (She thinks Obama is “an amazing woman,” but says it’s up to the First Lady to pick her clothes, not up to the designers to pick her.) Meanwhile, true to her brand, Leigh Lezark expressed much more enthusiasm for the decade. “You can never be sick of the eighties — it reminds me of being a kid. I don’t remember much,” she added, “but my parents have told me that I wouldn’t take off my dance costumes.” As a matter of fact, she still has some of them. “To be honest, I have a dance costume from when I was 12 that I still, bizarrely, fit into,” she admitted. “It’s weird, but I fit into it.” She does not, however, wear it in public.
