Heatherette Richie Rich Is BACK

Last night at the Waldorf, we didn’t have to ask the ushers how to find the Grand Ballroom where we would witness the return of ex-Heatherette designer Richie Rich. We just had to follow the men in high heels, latex leggings, and of course glitter. The invitation read “dress/attire: sparkling,” and attendees didn’t disappoint. Luminaries (literally) in the audience included Justin Tranter, Ice-T and Coco, and someone in an ultraplush pig costume.

The elevated runway reminded us of the Baby Phat shows Kimora Lee Simmons staged in Hammerstein before the economic downturn. But there was no evidence of money troubles here. Before the show, a singer, violinist, and shirtless men’s dance troupe performed. Then Kat de Luna took the stage to sing and dance around in a purple crop top and skirt made of furry black tails. Meow indeed.

Richie’s collection included second-skin boxer briefs for men in money print with coins glued across their goods; orange-and-black zebra-print bikinis for ladies; schoolgirl blazers adorned with glitter; and dresses complete with ass bows. Tinsley Mortimer, Aubrey O’Day, and Pam Anderson walked for the finale. All in all, it was a magnificent comeback, a magical evening that did justice to everything that sparkles in this world and confirmed one thing: Richie Rich is back. See the highlights in the slideshow.
