New York Fashion Week bore a new class of power stompers, nipping at the heels of Aggy, Raquel, and Caroline. We analyzed the model lineups of the biggest shows, paying careful attention to who opened and who closed, to (somewhat) mathematically determine to the top ten models of New York Fashion Week. They include runway veterans like Natasha Poly and Sasha Pivovarova, and Tao Okamoto, who made her New York Fashion Week comeback this season. And then there was Sigrid Agren, who opened Diane Von Furstenberg and Marc by Marc Jacobs, walking a total of over sixteen shows and beating out Calvin Klein opener Monika Jagaciak and newcomer Sessilee Lopez. That said, it was a close race. See the top ten models of New York Fashion Week in the slideshow.
Sessilee Lopez (MAJOR)
Closed: Badgley Mischka, Christian Siriano
In her best New York Fashion Week runway season to date, Sessilee Lopez walked an exhausting 21 shows last week. Here she is closing Christian Siriano's.
Yulia Kharlapanova (WOMEN)
Opened: Herve Leger, Yigal Azrouel
Closed: Yigal Azrouel
Yulia Kharlapanova had a roaring start the first day of Fashion Week, opening and closing for Yigal Azrouel. The Russian then opened Max Azria's third Herve Leger collection (pictured).
Sasha Pivovarova (IMG)
Opened: Rodarte, Miss Sixty, PHI
Four years into her career, Sasha Pivovarova remains one of fashion's premier faces. And this season proved to be no different. She was the first face at Rodarte (pictured), Miss Sixty, and PHI.
Tao Okamoto (SUPREME)
Opened: 3.1 phillip lim
Tao Okamoto missed New York's fall 2007 season, but came back big for fall 2009, opening for 3.1 phillip lim (pictured). The wide-eyed beauty also walked for Alexander Wang and Ralph Lauren.
Natasha Poly (WOMEN)
Opened: Alexander Wang, Carolina Herrera, PHI, Preen
Closed: Jonathan Saunders
With one of the best runway walks in the biz, Natasha Poly was a shoe-in at all the major shows. Carolina Herrera and Preen both depended on the long-limbed Russian to open. Here she is opening for Alexander Wang.
Monika Jagaciak (IMG)
Opened: Calvin Klein, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti
Closed: Calvin Klein, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Richard Chai
Monika Jagaciak was this season's breakout new face. Landing the coveted opening and closing (pictured) slots at Calvin Klein, we expect her to dominate London, Milan, and Paris.
Anna Jagodzinska (NEXT)
Toni Garrn (WOMEN)
Opened: Donna Karan, Narciso Rodriguez, Tommy Hilfiger, Isaac Mizrahi
Four of New York's leading designers chose German wunderkind Toni Garrn to open their shows. Here she is opening for Narciso Rodriguez.
Jourdan Dunn (WOMEN)
Opened: Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu
Closed: Oscar de la Renta, Thakoon, Barbie
Jourdan Dunn opening and closing (pictured) Oscar de la Renta were among our favorite runway moments. Now, how about that Oscar campaign?
Sigrid Agren (NEW YORK MODELS)
Opened: Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Max Azria, Ruffian
Closed: BCBG, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, Max Azria
Sigrid Agren was Fashion Week's most wanted girl. Marc, Diane, Donna, and Max all rallied behind the French stunner, who also walked for sixteen other designers. Here she is opening for DVF.
