After the color overload in New York, the jolie-laide looks of London, and Milan's disco dolls, we were waiting for the runway beauty in Paris to blow us away. Instead, it hit every beauty status quo: Updos pulled so tight you'd need multiple gel bottles (Nina Ricci and Yves Saint Laurent), dark eyes paired with pale lips for drama (Andrew Gn and Karl Lagerfeld), and precisely penciled lips that drew attention (Emanuel Ungaro and Antonio Berardi). There were, however, the outliers, like the theater-inspired face paint (Dior, Galliano, McQueen, Viktor & Rolf). But Paris also offered up attainable looks, like the smoky eyes at Valentino and Louis Vuitton. To see these and more beauty trends from the Paris runways, click ahead.
Dramatic: Andrew Gn
Heavy emphasis was placed on the eyes, and a nude lip makes a statement at Andrew Gn.
Dramatic: Guy Laroche
At Guy Laroche, dark eye shadow extended all the way to the top of the brow line.
Dramatic: Karl Lagerfeld
Karl Lagerfeld opted for drama, but with precise lines.
At the Lutz show, the bottom lid had the most liner.
Dramatic: Louis Vuitton
Hairstylist Guido Palau said that the Louis Vuitton girls were out to "catch a man." And for that, the dramatic look fits right in. Makeup artist Pat McGrath used a bit of green liner for the dark eyes, and clear gloss for the pale lip.
Dramatic: Rue du Mail
Rue du Mail's dramatic eye included a touch of silver glitter.
The smoky eye at Valentino.
Precision Lips: Antonio Berardi
The puckers at Antonio Berardi were a bright, springlike color.
Precision Lips: Bruno Pieters
Bruno Pieters took a darker approach with color and even added gloss to the deep burgundy lips.
Precision Lips: Emanuel Ungaro
Makeup artist Tom Pecheux proved two lip colors were better than one at Emanuel Ungaro, where he painted models' top lips orange and the bottom ones magenta. He also said it was eighties-inspired.
Slick Updos: Akris
Even more popular than the dramatic eyes this season were slick updos. Almost every runway showed off the formal look, including Akris.
Slick Updos: Andrew Gn
Andrew Gn pulled hair back and then knotted it in a high bun.
Slick Updos: Giambattista Valli
The hair was kept slightly looser at Giambattista Valli.
Slick Updos: Givenchy
Givenchy's hair looked like it's slicked in oil.
Slick Updos: Guy Laroche
Guy Laroche concocted a three-tiered beehive for his updo.
Slick Updos: Christian Lacroix
Christian Lacroix inserted tiny braids into the high updo for a special twist.
Slick Updos: Lanvin
At Lanvin, hair was pulled off the face, leaving all focus to go to the accessories -- chunky necklaces, big bracelets, and interesting hairpieces.
Slick Updos: Leonard
Leonard left a few wispy pieces.
Slick Updos: Loewe
Loewe opted for ballerina buns.
Slick Updos: Nina Ricci
You can see the comb lines at Nina Ricci. That's how slick it is.
Slick Updos: Wunderkind
Wunderkind inserted a side part, just to change it up a bit.
Slick Updos: Yves Saint Laurent
At Yves Saint Laurent, leather hairpieces finished off a slick, dramatic updo.
White Eyes: Veronique Branquinho
Winter white is headed to your eye makeup this fall. Veronique Branquinho used white lashes, as seen here.
White Eyes: Chanel
Chanel dotted the lower lid in white rhinestones.
White Eyes: Giambattista Valli
Giambattista Valli faded the brown gradient of the upper lid to white on the lower lid.
Crimped Hair: Givenchy
And we can't help but draw attention to the crimped hair we saw on the runways. At Givenchy, the textured style mixed with stiff, gelled hair.
Crimped Hair: Karl Lagerfeld
Now this is full-body hair. Karl Lagerfeld added texture to the style, and placed rolls in the front to pin the front away from the face.
Excessive Face Paint: Bernhard Willhelm
Contrary to the seductive dark eyes and slick updos, face paint in Paris ranged from wacky to theatrical. At Bernhard Willhelm, the blue dripping tears leaned to the wackier side.
Excessive Face Paint: Viktor & Rolf
The models at Viktor & Rolf were made up to look like marble busts, no matter their skin color.
Excessive Face Paint: Alexander McQueen
Alexander McQueen's clown lips. Why use models?
Excessive Face Paint: Christian Dior
While at Christian Dior, we saw layers of shadow, painted-on brows, berry glossy lips, and hair that took 12,000 bobby pins for the whole show.
Excessive Face Paint: John Galliano
John Galliano took a similar approach at his own show where eyes were outlined in gray shades, lips were glossy red, and the skin couldn't get enough powder, foundation, and sparkle.
Excessive Face Paint: Gaspard Yurkievich
Though not technically makeup, the metallic press-on stickers at Gaspard Yurkievich came close enough -- they are fake lashes, although removed from the actual lash line.
Excessive Face Paint: Vivienne Westwood
Pamela Anderson walked in the Vivienne Westwood show, and models were painted to look like her. Although this is something you can do in reality, we don't suggest it.
