There’s nothing like a beauty contest to bring people together, and the party for Men.Style.Com’s “Women of Fashion 2009” the other day was a corker (just check Purple publisher Olivier Zahm’s photo diary for black-and-white gorgeousness). Sort of a “Maxim’s Top 100” for women with actual taste and talent, this year’s edition featured fashionable filles like street-style blogger Garance Doré, sultry downtown jewelry designer Pamela Love, Juila Restoin-Roitfeld, and the ascendant, feline Alexa Chung. Other than tagging the obvious (Chloë, Sophmore’s Chrissie Miller, Erin Wasson) and the less so (Danielle Corona, Erika Bearman, Sophia Hesketh), the bros over at Men.Style.Com did miss a few of our faves.
Jen Kao (Designer): Up-and-coming creator, BFF of Taylor Momsen, and all-around cutie-pie.
Vena Cava (Designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock): They just won a CFDA Fashion Fund award, their teeth are perfect, and there are two of them. What’s a duo got to do to get some love?
Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl): Oh, come on now — this was just too obvious to be missed.
Daisy Lowe (Model): She brought T & A back to fashion editorials, set up camp in New York, and has a tomboy attitude that drives boys and girls nutto. Bookmark her for next year.
Kate Young (Stylist): Granted, she’s a more sophisticated choice — but just try denying her sexiness.
Kate Lanphear (Style Director, Elle): She brings rock chic to one of the industry’s best mags and, oh, just look at that hair.
Dree Hemingway (Model): An impeccable pedigree, gams that go from here to ya ya, and ridiculous style. Where was she?
Jen Brill (Socialite): If Harley Viera-Newton made the grade, why not this biscuit?
Olivia Thirlby (Actress): The sultry supporting star of Juno and The Wackness is New York casual through and through. She’s the kind of gal who will kiss you or cut you (hopefully both).
Lykke Li (Musician): The Swedish singer had one of the best albums of last year, she’s got gorgeous eyes, a nice Alex Wang–via-Scandinavia style, and the lady raps. What’s not to love?
