Ben Sherman Discontinues Kids’ Line, Because Being Cute Isn’t Good Enough

They're not smiling on purpose.

Ben Sherman's hipsters-in-training children's line is no more. Oxford Industries Inc., the parent company, announced today that they are discontinuing the children's clothes for the label, saying it doesn't have the luxury of being "fun and cute" in a recession. The men's and women's footwear lines are also being phased out. And though we think there is always room to dress the tots up like mini-punk–Zac Efrons, the economy has taken that privilege away. Is nothing sacred? If the under-10 set could protest, we're pretty sure they'd demand their trilby hats and suspenders back immediately. But at least now they'll be able to snag some Stella McCartney at the Gap. [WWD]
