E! is reporting that Vera Wang has signed on to compete on the next season of Dancing With the Stars. Until confirmation comes from her camp or the show’s (both have declined comment), we will remain in denial. For we are among that ever-shrinking legion who has refused to watch this program. (We don’t profess to be above it, but the way it wavers between tacky and unseemly without a trace of irony leaves us with an unclean feeling.) But if Vera goes on, we won’t be able to resist any longer. Even Holly Madison, Shawn Johnson, Lil’ Kim, and Steve Wozniak haven’t been able to entice us to watch regularly. But Vera is a preeminent designer and an amazing woman and a former figure skater. She even designed skating costumes for Nancy Kerrigan and Michelle Kwan. And, as E! notes, figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi won season six of Dancing With the Stars, so that automatically makes Vera’s chances of winning pretty good. But the real kicker? She could design her own costumes. Brace.
