Rodarte Might Enter the Movie Business

Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy just signed with William Morris Endeavor Entertainment. WWD reports the agency will “advise the label on opportunities in publishing and film and identify potential strategic partnerships and sponsorships.” The Mulleavy sisters routinely draw on films for their collections. Previous inspirations include The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, Hellraiser, and Star Wars. So they could costume something or produce something, most likely in a horror, a sci-fi, or some other creepy genre. This is a very promising development in the film industry, whose love affair with all this vampire crap needs to end. Maybe the Mulleavys can steer the industry (and feisty tweenagers) in a new direction. Like mermaids. It’s time for their fashion moment. And just like vampires, they don’t age! Ariel’s dad had the body of a 22-year-old.
