Video: A Tour of Greg Lauren’s ‘Alteration’

Greg Lauren, nephew of Ralph, debuted an exhibit of jackets last week, and gave us a tour of the show. The fabric of choice was a Japanese paper generally used to wrap items. The jackets, which span all genres, from hoodies to evening jackets to nautical coats to the ever popular motorcycle jacket, were used because “it’s what men put on to face the world.” Lauren, who learned to sew just for the project, also tried his hand at actual cloth jackets. So which one was our favorite? You’ll have to watch the video to find out. The exhibit runs until November 1 at 28 Wooster Street (at Grand Street).
