Last night, divas gathered together to sing, dance, and give and receive American Music Awards. Lady Gaga didn't win an award, but she won in terms of stage performance and wardrobe, if you ask us. Rihanna, perhaps feeling the Gaga pressure like Beyoncé, attempted to raise her fashion game by wearing a bodysuit consisting only of thin white pieces of fabric. We have a theory about this ensemble, which you can read in the slideshow, along with our thoughts on Jennifer Lopez, Adam Lambert, and some of the other divas in attendance.
Rihanna on the Red Carpet
Great, the dress gave her an excuse to wear a leotard, but the floral cutouts feel too frilly for her.
Rihanna Trying to Outperform Lady Gaga
The medieval torture wheel may have been Rihanna's attempt to keep up with Lady Gaga. Or perhaps she just wanted to hang upside down in the dark for a hot minute to make sure her naughty bits wouldn't pop out of her bodysuit, which, by the way, doesn't classify as clothing.
The shoes, hat, and harness make her look like a scary alien creature, which we love. But the tan bandages make her look like she has a penis, which gives us pause.
This is like the Joyce Leslie version of the spring 2010 Balmain line.
The dress is nice, and the earrings add "Jenny From the Block" flavor, but the shoes disappoint. White platform heels should only be worn ironically.
She must have stolen this from the Victoria's Secret fashion show last week.
She's back, and she's PUTTING ON HER LOUBOUTINS. We loved her performance and clothes last night. She didn't try to be unusually avant-garde to keep up with Lady Gaga. She just put on something shiny that works for her and came up with a concept that would allow her to employ a bunch of shirtless male backup dancers.
We love how she looks like a black disco ball, but we're not such fans of the arbitrary sleeve. It doesn't even connect to her dress.
If Kelly Clarkson's goal was to draw attention to her boobs, she certainly achieved that.
According to Wikipedia, Bobby Trendy rose to fame with regular appearances on The Anna Nicole Show. We pity those who had to sit on any side of him.
Adam Lambert on the Red Carpet
No metallics, no man heels, no glitzy brooches. What does he think this is — the Oscars?
Adam Lambert Onstage
Better, but this means he and Rihanna wore spikes on their shoulders. Which means they both "lose."
Lovely how her dress parts just so in the front to showcase her booty shorts.
They were probably coming up with a game plan for where to meet in case Nicole stood against something beige, completely blended in, and lost Keith.
A little less jacket, a little more pants, please.
He looks like a lounge singer — as in the kind of lounge that has stains all over the booths.
Alicia Keys's Good Side
We were geared up to really like this look.
Alicia Keys's ... Clever Side
And then we noticed that she let Taylor Swift's fans color on her back before the show.
