The beauty industry makes billions of dollars banking on the idea that a single product can make someone feel good. Well, 2010 is upping the ante. According to the research firm Mintel, beauty products that promise to have mood enhancers are going to be a big trend next year. Ingredients and formulas are going to feature “psychological benefits” that work “by interacting with the body’s neurotransmitters.” It sounds really cool in theory, but it could just be an overcomplicated scientific way to say a lipstick (or fragrance or whatever) will make you feel special … which should happen anyway.
