Manhattan's first Target will open on 116th Street in East Harlem on July 26, and the store is doing everything it can to get the neighborhood to accept it and get people to shop there. The opening party on July 21 will include a replica of the Apollo Theater's stage, which rapper Doug E. Fresh will grace for a performance. Though it remains unclear what the socialite portion of the guest list looks like, chef Marcus Samuelsson will cater the event! He also made some nifty banana and vegetable pot holders to sell in the store as part of its special apparel and accessories collection featuring the work of local designers. The special line also includes beachwear by Isabel and Ruben Toledo, even though Ruben only visited Target for the first time two years ago in Fort Lauderdale.
