The MoMA Design Store is one of the city's best depots for democratically priced design objects: Jewelry, accessories, furniture, and ordinary household items like dust pans and salt and pepper shakers all get unique face-lifts, courtesy of an esteemed roster of artists, architects, and designers. Digit Magnets by Hlynur Vagn Atlason
There are 22 magnets in a set, but verbose decorators can combine multiple sets to spell out longer words and sentences. It retails for $16 per set.
Sol Watch by Shin Azumi
These water-resistant watches have tiny solar panels which, when exposed to sunlight, can help extend the battery life of the hybrid time piece. They retail for $100 each.
Button bag by Sonali Kaushal
This metallic clutch was constructed using more than 600 silvery plastic buttons. It retails for $175.
Loopy scarf by Ariane Lespire
This scarf, handmade in Belgium using boiled Italian wool, is like a sculptural work of art. It retails for $150.
Choco tape dispenser by Toshitsugu Fujiwara
This tape dispenser is made of walnut and includes a roll of printed Japanese washi paper. It retails for $38.
Safe bamboo radio by Pierre Garner and Elise Berthier
This AM/FM portable radio (with mp3 amplifier!) loves the earth as much as we love it: The body is made of renewable bamboo and environmentally friendly PLA plastic, and can be powered via hand-cranking. It retails for $80.
Ceramic clock by George Nelson
Nelson designed this glazed porcelain, quartz-movement clock in 1953 but it was never produced till now. It retails for $280.
Broccoli card holder by Akimi Shinoda
This colorful business card organizer was made in Japan using sheets of PVC. It retails for $24.
