Insiders say Thierry Mugler "has held talks" with Gareth Pugh, according to WWD, about taking over design as they aim for a change in fashion direction. Mugler spent a few years off the runway after its owner, Groupe Clarins, shuttered it in 2003. In 2008 Rosemary Rodriguez started designing the label again, and put menswear back on the runway, adding womenswear only last season for fall 2010. Mugler himself, meanwhile, took on some fun projects, like designing Beyoncé's concert outfits and helping her conceive the show. Pugh would seem a likely avant-garde match for the avant-garde label. He, too, has dressed Beyoncé, both onstage and for her "Diva" video. After her collaboration with Lady Gaga, a Pugh-Mugler partnership would once again prove Beyoncé the ultimate connector in all things outlandish.
