Niki Taylor didn’t need a mirrored costume, Sharpie-thick eyeliner, or buckets of hairspray to stand out at last night’s Miss Universe competition. Nope, she took the opposite route by pairing a simple red dress with natural makeup and slicked-back hair. The only thing even vaguely pageant-y about her ensemble, in fact, was its plunging neckline.
Did Taylor do the right thing by going au naturel amid a roomful of lacquered-and-buffed beauty queens, or should she have gotten more into the sequined spirit?
