Fashion Photographer Will Davidson Made a Little Movie

These days, it seems like everyone and their artistically inclined Parsons roommate makes a fashion film to accompany their collection. Diesel Black Gold is no exception: On Saturday night, the label's New Bond Street store in London co-hosted a cocktail party with AnOther magazine to screen Will Davidson's The Chase, a short film made exclusively to celebrate womenswear designer Sophia Kokosalaki's debut collection. The Australian fashion photographer-cum-film-director said he was mostly inspired by "the grime of being in London ... I did ten years here and it’s quite raw. Perhaps the film was a reflection of [that]." In it, Davidson staged an actual streets-of-London chase scene — a simple narrative he believed complemented Kolosalaki’s high-low urban aesthetic. So, could this be the start of a blossoming film career for Davidson, who to date has mostly stuck with the shooting likes of Burberry, Calvin Klein, and Topman? “It’s always the beginning if you’re really creative," he said. "You’re never going to be completely happy. If you ask me ten years down the line, I’d still say it’s the beginning.”
