Nina Garcia Thinks ‘There’s Diversity Already’ in Fashion

When asked about Essence magazine's white-fashion-director controversy, Colombian-born Nina Garcia said she's not worried about the lack of diversity in the fashion industry: “I think there’s diversity already. I think it’s been a little bit blown up out of proportion.” Meanwhile, TheLoop21.com calculated the number of models of color on the New York Fashion Week spring 2011 runways and found that out of 4,699 looks, 8.6 percent of the models were black while 7.3 percent were Asian.
