Patrik Ervell’s Models Walked All Over the Financial Times

At today’s Patrik Ervell presentation at Milk, the models paced atop a runway composed of stacks of dusky pink Financial Times newspapers. As they circled endlessly for the hour, the newsprint runway slowly morphed, becoming ripped and worn from the constant male-model traffic. Was this some kind of conceptual metaphor about today’s economy? “Not at all,” said Ervell backstage after the final lap. “I just liked the color.” As the models changed from Ervell’s patented classic take on modern fabrics, he elaborated: “The Financial Times is so iconic. What an amazing thing to walk on. They sent us 7,000 newspapers. Two thousand pounds of newspapers! It’s just a pretty color, and it’s an iconic newspaper, and it's masculine. It looks like a minimalist sculpture.”
