The Times' Jon Caramanica checked out the Jack Spade store in the West Village, where he was quickly overwhelmed to find that all the West Village stereotypes were true: "A gentleman in a seersucker suit with unlaced saddle shoes (and no socks) stomped by, gripping a folded newspaper. He looked stern." Sockslessness is one thing, but he drew the line at flared man-jeans. "Some guys in boot-cut jeans who looked as if they’d just gotten off the JetBlue from Burbank looked around, eyes wide ... I walked to the train and got out of there." [NYT]
