If you can say one thing about Tim Gunn, it's that he's not afraid of being honest, which so many people in the public eye are. The momentum of his Anna Wintour Stairsgate story may be petering out, but no matter, because he has plenty of other stories to entertain us with! Like this one about Taylor Momsen:
"What a diva!" he told E! News of the 17-year-old. "She was pathetic, she couldn't remember her lines, and she didn't even have that many. I thought to myself 'why are we all being held hostage by this brat?"
... "I'd say, 'You know young lady, there are hundreds of thousands of girls who are just as attractive and even smarter than you. Why are you acting like this show is a huge burden on you?' She was on her phone during every break, I wanted to tell her, 'If you weren't on your BlackBerry, you can retain this stuff.' ''
Gunn says that he's not trying to assassinate her character, but that she annoyed the director and the entire crew.
"I learned from teaching to stick with the topic, I don't get involved in character appraisals," Gunn explained. "I'd just ask her 'do you want to share with me why you're always on your phone?' At one point the director leaned in and whispered to me, 'this is day in, day out, my life.' She annoyed the entire crew."
Though plenty of people are surprised Gunn is being so forward with these deep, dark secrets about celebrities and their attitudes, he's doing the best thing he can for himself to promote his book. Because after all this, don't you want to read it? As Gunn notes, he is a teacher, formerly of Parsons as Project Runway fans know, and by that measure, still kind of an outsider to this glam Hollywood celebrity world that he now is part of. What he's saying isn't all that surprising — rocket scientists don't need to investigate fame to find out how it can turn people into divas — but that he has the balls to say it is pretty rare. We hope he never changes, because so many people don't have the balls to say anything these days.
