Video: Australia’s Next Top Model Announces the Wrong Winner — and Then Takes It Back!

Being on any competition reality television show isn’t easy. You have to let the public watch whatever dirty laundry or private moment the producers want to air, like that time you picked an M&M off the floor when no one was looking and ate it. Or all those times you woke up hungover with drool crusted on your face, after having gotten drunk and crying all night for reasons that seemed good at the time but wouldn’t have been at all in a state of sobriety. All those embarrassing moments make the final prize so much more valuable — and the show’s host that much more detestable to the loser when she announces the wrong winner, which is what happened on the season finale of Australia’s Next Top Model. When host Sarah Murdoch realized her mistake, she said, “Oh my God, I don’t know what to say right now. I’m feeling a bit sick about this. No. I’m so sorry about this. Oh my God. I don’t know what to say. This was a complete accident. It’s Amanda, I’m so sorry. It was fed to me wrong.”

The good thing about this is that everyone felt so bad about embarrassing the poor girl so badly that she gets to go to New York and will receive a $25,000 prize. Behold some of the most painful moments in Top Model history — which really is saying a lot — in the video.
