Zac Posen Replaces His Mom With Scoop’s CEO

Zac Posen’s mom and longtime business partner, Susan, is stepping down as CEO of her son’s company to “pursue other interests,” she wrote in an e-mail yesterday. Susan helped found her son’s label a decade ago, and will stay on as chair of the company’s board.

Last week the Yucaipa Cos, which owns Zac Posen and Scoop NYC, announced that Scoop’s CEO, Susan Davidson, would also take on the title of CEO of Zac Posen. Sources tell WWD that Yucaipa was frustrated that the Posen label wasn’t returning on its investment, so they pushed a new CEO into the role to make the company more profitable. Posen has never been short on publicity, but the business itself has never quite lived up. He may be in a particularly tight spot now that his lower-priced Z Spoke line and his main Zac Posen line, which he showed in Paris for the first time, received pitiful reviews.
