Italian fashion fair Pitti W, which takes place twice a year in Florence, invites one "special guest" designer each season to show their women's pre-collection as part of the four-day event, and they've just announced that Gareth Pughwill be featured at the festival's seventh installation this January. This will be Pugh's first time showing in Italy (he's shown in London and Paris), where he will also be encouraged to expand the multimedia presentation of his show, according to Pitti W's Lapo Cianchi:
The video [that Pugh] screened at the last Paris fashion week brought new energy to the discussion on the use of multimedia technologies in fashion. So we had all the right reasons for inviting Gareth Pugh to Florence and Pitti, where there is plenty of space for fashion experiments.
Previous designers spotlighted at Pitti W include Proenza Schouler, who showed their women's spring/summer 2010 pre-collection there in June, and Giles Deacon, who showed his women's fall/winter 2010 pre-collection there last January.
