The 2011 pre-fall collections designers who showed over the past few weeks took a lot of inspiration from the seventies — specifically, the trim, narrow-shouldered looks favored by style icons like Bianca Jagger and Ali McGraw. It showed up in wide-leg trouser suits, A-line skirts, tunics, and maxi lengths, finished with skinny scarves, oversize sunglasses, and a center part to complete the look.
