Band of Outsiders: Acrophobic Models Need Not Apply
Band of Outsiders won over the audience with an amazing lemon cookie on every seat. But when the lights darkened, the show got even better: "The End" by the Doors blared and models dropped from the ceiling.
“I’m a bit of a showman,” Band of Outsiders’s Scott Sternberg said backstage. We’ll say! But not everyone in the audience was surprised.
“I know one of the models,” said new Band of Outsiders campaign star Kirsten Dunst. “He kind of said it to me and I was like, 'Yeah right, whatever.' I wish I didn’t know!”
Hiring models for the show posed new challenges for Sternberg. "The casting was like this,” Sternberg said. “We asked 'are you afraid of heights?' If they said, 'No, not at all' we said 'How would you feel dropping 30 feet from the ceiling?' If they said 'Fuck Yeah!' they’re in. If they hesitated for a second we didn’t consider them. If you’ve ever spent any time with male models they are out of their head crazy. They don’t give a shit.”
