Kate Middleton Named a ‘Top Trumps’ Style Icon, May Have Indulged in Dirty Dancing (the Film) at Her Bachelorette Party

As we can see from our handy countdown widget, the main event is officially less than a month away! Here's a selection of today's stories on the subject:

• Among today's royal-wedding-themed merchandise releases: a special edition of Top Trumps playing cards. They feature royalty, Kate Middleton's family, celebrities, the queen's corgis, and even St. Andrews University, all of which are graded by age, VIP status, style, celebrity press, and a catch-all category called the "big day rating." Controversially, Kate has higher "style icon" points (twenty) than Princess Diana (nineteen); Kate also beats Victoria Beckham, who has eighteen points, her sister Pippa, who has seven points, and the queen herself with a paltry six. • So that you can plan your DVR well in advance, WWD has a rundown of all the major TV networks' plans for wedding coverage . Of course, nothing beats the live stream of the ceremony that the official royal-wedding website will hopefully be hosting on the big day. [WWD]

• Perhaps because everyone will be glued to the aforementioned live stream, there will be far fewer street parties in honor of the wedding across the U.K. than expected (licenses are required to host such events, and only a small number have been requested). But not all is lost: British prime minister David Cameron will have an afternoon party at Downing Street after returning from the ceremony at Westminster Abbey. [Telegraph UK]

• Though Kate Middleton's "hen night" may have been low-key and paparazzi-free, it was reportedly Dirty Dancing-themed and took place at her parent's Berkshire home. [AOL]

• And while there's no news on who's behind Kate's dress, here are sketches from designers who certainly won't be: a bunch of Project Runway's ex-contestants. Some of the nicer looks were courtesy of Carmen Webber and Ben Chmura; a few not-so-convincing getups came from Jason Troisi (because, you know, Kate's not a Viking) and Joe Faris (studded denim, really?). [AOL]

• Oh, and why not celebrate vicariously with a special limited-edition royal-wedding-themed doughnut shaped like a heart? [CNN]
