Last night, Glamour’s Cindi Leive celebrated the launch of her new cookbook, 100 Recipes Every Woman Should Know: Engagement Chicken and 99 Other Dishes to Get You Everything You Want in Life, at Spasso. Platters of “engagement chicken,” which supposedly has magical question-popping effects, were passed around the party. “Are you engaged?” demanded Leive. “Have you gotten engaged since the five minutes you ate that chicken?” We assured her that no, tonight was probably not the night. “Honestly, I was completely skeptical at first. I was rolling my eyes and saying, ‘Are you kidding me, I don’t think so,’” she said, gesturing toward the poultry with suspicion. “Then we published [the recipe] and heard from 72 women that they got engaged. I thought, Oh my gosh, there’s something to this.”

Vera Wang, who was also in attendance, said she won her husband’s heart through carbs, not chicken: “He knew I really loved him when I buttered a bagel for him.”
