Karl Lagerfeld Came Up With His Entire Métiers d’Art Collection in Just Three Weeks

In an interview with interior designer Charlotte Moss, Karl Lagerfeld explained that he never thinks farther than six months ahead: "I prefer the future in terms of fashion, six months, six months, six months. I'm not a fortune-teller." It took him only a fraction of that time to make Chanel's last Métiers d'Art collection, he says. "There was not so much time after the ready-to-wear and all the campaigns I photograph. Let's say two or three weeks. I have no notion of time for this kind of work. I bring a few sketches one day, nothing the next, then I bring some more. Everything is lighter and more improvised than we imagine from the outside." [WSJ]
