Best Bet: Paperback Shelf

Beyond their value as literature, the books displayed on your shelves serve another purpose — as décor. Studio Parade’s Paperback bookshelf does the same neat double trick. It provides a hit of design exuberance by presenting volumes of every shape, size, and binding horizontally instead of vertically. And because it’s made of lightweight resin-fortified paper and requires just four screws to mount to the wall and contains special tabs to make room for larger coffee-table books or frames, it positively screams, “Damn, I am smart!” ($420 to $600 at Suite New York).
