There were surely a few less Christian Dior gowns on last night's Met Gala red carpet than years past. Ashley Olsen wore a vintage Christian Dior dress, but absent were any of disgraced designer John Galliano's recent pieces. As the designer prepares to go to court next week for hearings prior to his public slander trial in France for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks to a couple in a Parisian café, his spokesman reveals that his Jewish lawyer Stephane Zerbib has been fired.

Amid rumours today that John Galliano's lawyer, Stephane Zerbib, had quit, a spokesperson for the British designer told us Zerbib had in fact been fired as Galliano's representative: "Mr Zerbib was dismissed as Galliano's lawyer some weeks ago following the discovery of apparent irregularities in respect of his firms administration of Galliano's financial affairs over a number of years," the spokesperson told us.

Zerbib, who is Jewish, previously defended Galliano in the press by saying, "Anyone can go to a bar, drink a little and get into a fight with someone ... It’s alcohol mixed with medications. You're very vulnerable when you're in this state."
