At last night’s CFDA Fashion Awards, we spoke to several winners after the ceremony, several of whom were still in a state of shock. “I don’t really remember what I said,” said Robert Geller, who was literally (and endearingly) shaking after he won the Swarovski prize for emerging menswear designer. “It kind of goes blurry. I mean, it’s just like, oh my God, and then, oh, I have to say something. And then you’re floating. Oh my God, I really didn’t expect it. I really didn’t. It’s huge for me.” Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez have received CFDA awards before (three, to be precise), but this is their first time snagging the coveted womenswear prize. “I’m, like, did they say the right name? Are you sure?” said McCullough. “I don’t know what we said. We probably didn’t make any sense.” Added Hernandez, “I heard your name, and zoned out. I’m like, Jack?”
