Michael Kors may have said it best while presenting his resort collection a few weeks ago: "It is — it’s surf Jackie!" he announced as a neoprene minidress appeared on the runway. And lo, a trend was born. Surf- and scuba-inspired ensembles took many forms for resort 2012; the brightly colored one-piece bathing suits looked ready for open water, and several jumpsuits resembled wetsuits. Meanwhile, lots of short, sporty dresses with contrasting contour panels might more closely resemble Surf Barbie than an actual surfer, but no one said you need to go farther than the pool bar.
