John Galliano and Jewish Topshop owner Sir Philip Green found themselves at the same party, Kate Moss's wedding, last weekend. Rumors are now going around that they've decided to pursue a collaborative collection for Green's chain and may have hatched the scheme at Mosstock. Galliano awaits the verdict for his public insults trial in Paris for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks at a couple in a Paris café, which led to his firing from Christian Dior — one of the biggest fashion news stories in history.

It seems inevitable that Galliano's design career will continue, and a lower-priced line is the thing designers do these days. After Olivier Theyskens was let go from Nina Ricci, he went to Theory, for example, where he seems to be doing spectacularly. It wouldn't be surprising if Galliano had lots of job offers flying his way, considering the industry's eagerness to forgive him and forget his faults (which Galliano did not deny in his trial, but only sought to justify). But there was no reason for a designer like Theyskens not to make an awesome comeback — his talent was not tainted by a public outburst. It's hard to imagine Galliano rising again as quickly as he fell. Business owners will be forced to decide if their customers can, like the fashion industry, also forgive Galliano — the man in this video — so easily. Would you want the affordable version of his work — or any version of his work, really — badly enough to confront the morality of it?
