Best Bet: Clinique 8-Hour Eye Color

Eye shadow doesn’t tend to do well in sticky, sweaty weather. The smoky and bold shades we flaunt in the fall and winter can devolve into a smeary mess in humidity. Clinique’s new water-resistant 8-hour eye colors (err, “lid smoothies”) have the soft look of powdered eye shadows, without the creasing or streaking. (As an added bonus, the formula also contains antioxidants, cucumber, and aloe vera to perk up puffy eyes.) The creamy shadows come in twelve colors — from a subtle ivory (Bit O’Honey) to a rich, smoky gray (Lick-orice) — and have a light, blendable consistency. In this writer’s case, one coat of Born Freesia (the violet shade above) stayed in place over a long night of alternating humidity and rain.

Clinique Lid Smoothie Antioxidant 8-Hour Eye-Color, $19.50 at Clinique counters and online.
