Gwyneth Paltrow Covers Elle’s September Issue, Talks a Lot About Beyoncé

Gwyneth Paltrow's cover and corresponding spread.

Gwyneth wears lots of black in Elle's September issue, particularly in the form of long-sleeved sweaters and tiny shorts. The corresponding interview by Mickey Rapkin skews more towards her singing career than her style (aside from rattling off the list of designer clothes she wears, which includes Rag & Bone, Isabel Marant, and "something like eight pounds of shiny necklaces"). However, talking about music gets Gwyneth to bring up Beyoncé, so we'll take it.

On getting support from Beyoncé on her surprise duet with Cee Lo Green at the Grammys: "This story always makes me cry … It’s 10 in the morning and Beyoncé schleps it all the way down to the Staples Center to watch. I mean, she's Beyoncé!"

On the advice Beyoncé gave her before her performance: "Beyoncé’s like, 'Okay. The singing is great. But you’re not having any fun.' She’s like, 'Remember when we’re at Jay’s concert and Panjabi MC comes on and you do your crazy Indian dance? Do that. Be you!'"

Joe Zee's styling in this story is spare and clean, with the clothes serving as accents rather than the main event. Gwyneth herself looks cozy and relaxed, which is a nice change from her wearing outfits like these.
