Best Bet: Stormy Weather Polish

Stormy weather is miserable on your morning commute. On your nails, however, it’s another story. Deborah Lippmann’s Stormy Weather polish was developed in collaboration with Narciso Rodriguez for his fall 2011 show. After more than six months, it’s available off the runway. The granite-gray hue makes a rich complement to the season’s dark color palette; edgy, but more subdued than Chanel’s deep denim-inspired blues. It’s shades lighter than a goth black — it looks softer on your nails than it does in the bottle — with a high-shine, long-lasting finish (no chipped tips after a week of wear).

Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather polish, $16 at Barneys or online.
