Splurgy Coats and Statement-Making Shoes at Surface to Air

Parisian fashion collective Surface to Air opened its first New York store in Soho last week. Minimally decked with white walls, wood floors, black leather benches, and a handful of helpful French men, the 2,300-square-foot space offers a soothing respite from the frenzy of Broadway just a block away. Womenswear lines one side of the store with splurge-worthy coats, sheer and cut-out tops, patched skirts, and knits, while the menswear on the other side focuses on denim, jackets, and button-down shirts. Apart from the luxurious outerwear (check out Kid Cudi's leather collaboration), the shoes are the centerpiece, from cherry-red wedge booties to Leigh Lezark's sculptural platform heels.
