Video: Backstage Beauty at Kimberly Ovitz

By , and

Kimberly Ovitz's spring 2012 collection was inspired by "disaster versus relief and man versus nature," says M.A.C makeup artist Kristin Gallegos. Gallegos pulled from the destruction part of the inspiration, using M.A.C's saddle-brown eyeshadow to sharply contrast with the bleached eyebrows and the matte, almost-bare skin. The end result was to give the models "a bit of a toughness without being literal about it and using black." Watch the video and see the process unfold.
