Why Miss Piggy Is So Great for Fashion
With the premiere of the Muppets movie nearing, Miss Piggy's press blitz is just getting underway. After appearing at Fashion's Night Out for Opening Ceremony, her portion of the promotional effort continues in the new issue of InStyle, in which she models custom designs by labels like Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, and Brian Atwood. "I didn’t want to dress Miss Piggy in anything that would take away from her bold personality so I went with a simple, classic dress and neutral color," Gurung told WWD. "The Empire waist really complements her figure." Jason Wu explained to the paper, "Her humor, flamboyance and joie de vivre inspired me to design a decadent feathered dress that features her most sensational qualities."
Miss Piggy, who is no stranger to custom designer clothes and plays a French Vogue editor in the new movie, is not only helping to keep the industry interested in a curvier body type, but also helping it have a sense of humor about itself — something it so easily forgets to do. "Style is about expressing your inner self, capturing your personal ethos, and, most importantly, spending someone else’s money," Piggy mused. And now every Real Housewife is wondering why their biggest mistake in their quest for fame was being born human instead of pig puppet. Maybe the two aren't so different after all.
