Madonna lives a notoriously private life in her Upper East Side townhouse — well, technically, it’s three townhouses joined together, all protected by spike-topped metal walls. But she granted Harper’s Bazaar a surprisingly personal interview for her December cover story, which also features the little-known actress Andrea Riseborough (the star of Madonna’s new movie, W.E.). The interview begins with normal Madonna-friendly subjects, like how society is threatened by female sexuality and so forth, and then it devolves into a discussion about Madonna’s body hair.

Going to high school, I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys. I knew I couldn’t fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite. I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle. I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits.

They also talk about the Material Girl line for Macy’s, which, as usual, Madonna attributes to her daughter Lola’s design talents. But Madonna admits to helping Lola out with a few things, like blogging.

She loves fashion and style. She helps design the collection. I just stand in the background and watch. I proofread her blogs and edit them and give her a hard time when I think she’s being a lazy writer.

So, since Madonna is basically just one tiny step removed from being a blogger herself, does this mean she might launch her very own blog for her forthcoming adult label? Or even better yet, she could come to our office and blog with us. We’d promise not to eat fruit in front of her, and we’ll even keep extra razors around, just in case.
