Video: Oscar de la Renta and André Leon Talley Lead Us Through the Spanish Institute’s Beautiful New Fashion Exhibit

Master designer Oscar de la Renta and master editor (and reality television judge, it must be said) André Leon Talley, worked together to curate the new fashion and art exhibit at the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute in New York, dedicated to the work of painter Joaquín Sorolla. While doing research for the exhibit, they learned that Sorolla acquired many of the pieces worn by the subjects of his paintings, and that these pieces still exist today. From tomorrow until March 10, you can see some of those beautiful garments and paintings, many on loan from Spain and on exhibit in the U.S. for the first time. De la Renta and Talley, a charming duo, as you’ll see, gave us a private tour of the exhibit’s capes, bullfighting regalia, and elaborate traditional early-twentieth-century bridalwear (some of which could weigh 50 pounds or more). Get a taste of the exhibit in the video.
