Velvet. It's the fabric of choice for Christmas stockings and fashion plates like Alexa Chung when she wants to remind the world she's more stylish than we are; and it was all over the fall 2012 men's shows. Smoking jackets appeared at Dolce & Gabbana, and at Moschino in traditional Hugh Hefner reds, while Frankie Morello and Etro showed them in tuxedo black.
