Though MAC seems to announce a new fashion-crowd-courting collaboration every other month, this one is worth a lunchtime detour to your nearest MAC boutique. Design icon Iris Apfel’s bird-inspired collection launched yesterday, including five shades of splashy, unapologetically bold lipsticks. There are three standouts of the bunch: Scarlet Ibis, a bright, high-drama red that approximates Apfel’s signature bold lip; Pink Pigeon, a neon pink (we’ve been admiring this shade since Fashion Week); and Party Parrot, a rich red-pink blend. The matte sticks have a soft, creamy consistency that doesn’t dry out lips in cold weather or require retouching after one drink. Four of the five hues are sold out online already (all but Morange, a traffic-cone orange), but they’re still available in stores.
