The CFDA Awards, held this Monday, June 4, at Alice Tully Hall in New York, is traditionally an industry affair punctuated by a few big celebrities who attend to support their beloved designer friends who keep them in nice, free clothes all year round. It's always a great red carpet — sort of like the Met Gala's smaller, edgier cousin — in that major American designers attend with models as arm candy (wearing their designs, of course). The CFDA also manages to lure some big celebrities into the mix by inviting famous people to present awards to their slightly less famous fashion brethren.
WWD reports today that this year's presenters include Jessica Chastain, Mad Men's Jessica Paré, and White Collar's Matt Bomer; they'll present the Womenswear, Accessories, and Menswear Designer of the Year awards, respectively. We can also confirm that Lily Collins will present all of the Swarovski Awards for Emerging Talent in Menswear, Womenswear, and Accessories. And let's not forget that SNL's Seth Meyers is hosting, and Johnny Depp will be there to pick up his Fashion Icon prize, huzzah! Will he go scruffy or spiffy, do you think? (Just kidding, we know he'll behave and leave his grubby hand towels at home.)
You can see all the nominees here; we'll have more breaking news on the CFDAs this week as they approach.
