Did Anna Wintour Veto Sarah Jessica Parker’s Furniture?

Sarah Jessica Parker's brownstone was deep-cleaned and rearranged before President Obama's apparently wine-soaked visit last night, and some furniture was banished to storage to make room for all 50 guests. Now the Post reports that Anna Wintour saw to it personally that some specific pieces got the boot. Says an unnamed source, "Anna was going crazy about the decorating. She was having a lot [of] furniture removed and sending all of SJP’s tchotchkes upstairs." Also: “Some of the stuff in the house was shabby chic, and let’s just say, Anna wanted less shabby, and more chic."

As much as we'd love to imagine Wintour pooh-poohing Parker's choice in pianos ("Upright, ew! Who doesn't have a baby grand at least?"), chances are that Anna had more important things to think about this week than Parker's armchairs — you know, like flying to Chicago and shilling Bark for Obama dog sweaters by Marc Jacobs. Another source affirms that Anna had nothing to do with the decorations at all, telling the Post, "That was done in a meeting without her." She stopped by the house this week just to meet with Parker, not to inspect her upholstery. "Furniture was being brought in and out, but not for Anna’s benefit to preside over," the source added. (But surely she must have at least looked around.)
